13.08.2010: Ito wins in Courchevel

Daiki Ito from Japan won the second SGP Competition which was held in Courchevel. He jumped 133,5 and 130 metres and won in front of the two Austrians David Zauner and Thomas Morgenstern who landed ex aequo on Rank two. Adam Malysz from Poland, the Leader after the first Round, ended on fourth Place.

Impressions can be found on the right part of this side

Statements:

Daiki Ito (JPN): "Of course I’m very happy today. I like this hill in Courchevel. I have done a lot of testing this summer, especially concerning my boots and bindings. Compared with my form two months ago, when I was not jumping well at all, winning here is just great. I guess my secret was that I did not much about anything. I just jumped and had some luck with the winds.”

Thomas Morgenstern (AUT): “Two second places in the first two competitions are good, but results are not so important for me right now. I trained well and I’m satisfied with my jumping. I broke my boot in the first jump and had to get a new one for the second round. We are off to Einsiedeln right now and then to Wisla. I’m planning to compete in all GP events except for those in Japan.”

David Zauner (AUT): "This is my very first podium result at the highest level of skijumping. Compared with the hill in Hinterzarten, this hill suits me much better. Being second is much closer to my current form, the 26th place in Hinterzarten did not meet my expectations. My focus right now is having fun and enjoying the sport. It’s nice to have a strong team, even if the fight for spots can be tough. The switch to skijumping was definitely the right move for me. “
